Happy New Year Hot Rodders

Well here we are standing at the end of 2020. All ready to kick it to the curb we have pretty much seen or experienced most everything this year. Usually we go over all the things that happened throughout the year but at the same time I try to keep the politics out and keep my opinions to myself.

So we won’t be talking about the China virus, or about a bunch of whiny terrorists we call blm and antifa these are the same knuckleheads that tore down statues but had to have participation trophies in school so their feeling didn’t get hurt. Of course I probably should skip a particular political party possibly succeeding in pulling off the biggest election fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. All the while doing their level best to ruin all our lives, families and companies by running them into the ground and closing them down, and how we lost family, friends and time with both. Unfortunately we also lost one of our own Ian Rodriguez our condolences go out to his family.

So let’s skip all that and talk about how we want our lives back and to see our friends and Family again and enjoy our cars and events that we all enjoy so much. So lets kick 2020 to the curb and do what we do best.

I also wanted to thank everyone, as much as 2020 sucked we have kept busy and we couldn’t have done it without all our friends/customers and their beautiful cars. 2020 was actually our 10th year Anniversary in business we didn’t have a celebration with all that was going on in the world, we figured there were bigger fish to fry. So we decided we would have a big event for our 11th in 2021 sometime we will look for you then.

I would also like to thank all the guys at the shop. They are among the best in the industry it has taken us a long time to put together this team (had to kiss a lot of frogs) they really are the best Mechanics, Tuners, Custom Paint, Fabrication and Upholstery people around. they love what they do and the folks we do it for. Remember this year we put in our new ALIGNMENT RACK AND CHASSIS DYNO. Ya got what it takes to break it. If not we will tell you how close you came then help you get even closer. There are some awesome things planned this next year let’s just pray we are able to do it. I’m ready to fight to get back, I suspect you are too.

Hopefully we will start seeing things on the calendar and also remember they have moved the Mesquite show from January to February we will get it updated on the calendar.

And last but not least I need to thank my Wife and Family for allowing me to do this Bitchin job for another year. Thank You and I Love You.

Were Back And Ready To Go

Hi Everyone

Well we are back! I have had some personal and health things to deal with and also lost a couple friends 2020’s been a Hell of a year and not always in a good way. We were set to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary then the China Virus kind of stole our thunder. We also lost our friend and former shop manager Ian Rodriguez at the first of October. Our sympathy goes out his friends and family we know he will be missed.

But thanks to all our friends in the Hobby who have done their best to keep us busy and our minds off all the bad of the year, we thank you so much.

So even with all the madness and tragedy of this year. We decided to take time to improve our service. We have put in a new Dyno and have got a couple of the best tuners around. A new alignment rack, a new painter, and a 30 year Hot Rod Veteran refugee from California who wanted to escape the madness. And a new Upholstery dude. And I have even found my way in to the paint booth again after a looong break. We also listened to all the comments about our terrible parking and have redone our parking lot to make parking so much easier.

We have all been missing the things we love to do and the company of our friends so let’s not forget that one of the best Car Shows of the year is upon us this weekend. The 1st Responders Car Show so let’s all go out and show how much we need and support our 1st responders. While we show all the nutballs we are not for defunding our police and 1st responders. They are a valued and loved part of our community.

Since we don’t have a full complement of events this year we will be doing a post weekly or as needed. Again if you have anything you need put up just let me know and we will get er done.  Im not even going to go into all the mask and virus BS you know the drill and do whatever you need to do I am good with whatever.

Thought I would share our buddy Genes truck he has been working on it for a long time in California and wanted it up and running brought it to us and we finished her up and and got him on the road. Enjoy it.

Thanks for everything see you this weekend

Steve

Iron County Fair “Outlaw” Car Show

Hopefully we can start seeing a bit more of this kind of activity. I know we are all chomping at the bit. We cleared everything from the calendar until the 1st of the year and will now start loading up the calendar with all the events that are starting to be reported to us. If you have something coming up let me know and we will post it for you. We don’t care what kind of cars you got or what club you just let us know and we will help you get the word out.

 Thanks Steve

Happy Pioneer Day Weekend

After a couple letters I thought I better clarify what I do here. For those that dont understand. We are an information service if you have an event you want displayed here get me all the info at desertcruzin@gmail.com. We are not the people putting on these events we are helping to inform people of the events.

AS FAR AS COVID-19 INFO AND THE IMPACT ON ANY OF THESE EVENTS CONTACT THE EVENT COORDINATOR . IF YOU WANT INFO ON COVID-19 HERE IS THE UTAH.GOV LINK. https://coronavirus.utah.gov/ I MAKE NO RECOMMENDATIONS EITHER WAY MASK, NO MASK USE THE UTAH STATE INFO AND DO WHAT’S RIGHT FOR YOU WHAT IS REQUIRED.

If you want to talk about politics, Covid 19 (china) virus, or why we should wear masks or burn down or destroy our businesses or cities. Go to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter or any other highly intellectual forums and lose your mind there. I have ZERO interest in it here.
This is a service for those of us who love cars, things involving cars, and the people who love their cars. It’s also a place we can go to get away from all that other BS. And see what events are coming up. Most of us have lived a long time and we know what’s going on and our cars are the break from all the crap of the world for a minute or two. And if you are unhappy with the service we provide we will gladly refund your free.

Here is some info sent to me by Ken Kay if it looks like something you would like to do all the info is there.

Parade Request For Senior Queens

I am passing this request on:

Hi Ken!

I hope this won’t be too weird or stalkerish, but…I just found your contact info on your blog, and wanted to reach out. First of all, as a “woman of a certain age,” I’m delighted to read your recommendations to your readers about not participating in rides/events where people aren’t wearing masks and social distancing themselves; kudos to you! It’s impossible to believe that anyone’s still questioning whether people our age should be doing those things at this point in time. So…yay for you!

Secondly…this is possibly going to be an odd request, but hopefully you can point me in the right direction: A friend of mine and I are hoping to take part in the WA County Fair Parade on the evening of 8/4, and we are in search of a classic vehicle on which we could ride. She holds the title of Ms. Senior Utah, and I’m Ms. Senior Italy Universe (yes, really)…so of course we’d like to do what good queens normally do in a parade (wear something sparkly, put on the sash & crown, and smile and wave; ha-ha). We thought it would be fun to get in touch and see if any of your members might have some sort of classic convertible, and would be willing to drive it with us perched on the back? Having just been in the SG 4th of July parade, I can vouch for the fact that I felt totally safe and “distanced” from the 20,000 people who were out there (and whoever would be driving would certainly be safe inside their vehicle, of course).

Do you know if anyone in your club, or anyone else in town who’s a car aficionado, might be interested in doing this? We would never want to mess up someone’s gorgeous paint job with tape or glue or anything; we might make paper signs that we could wire to the driver- and passenger-side door handles or something…but that would be the extent of it. Mostly we’d just like to find someone who’d want to have fun with a couple of crazy older ladies for an hour or so. So if you can think of someone who qualifies, that would be awesome!

I’m attaching a few pics, so you’ll  have an idea of who we are. Shelly Gish is an agent at Prado Real Estate downtown, and also owns/runs “Magic Stuff,” a cool shop that sells all-natural lotions and potions. I’m a fitness instructor w/the City of SG, board chair of the Art Around the Corner nonprofit, a writer for SG Health & Wellness Magazine, race director/athlete at the Senior Games, etc, etc (and just finished my treatments for breast cancer a few weeks ago; yay! So I’m going for all of the gusto I can these days).

Anyway…sorry to blather on. If you’d like to chat about this, feel free to drop me a note, shoot me a text, or give me a holler. I truly appreciate any help or guidance you can offer. Huge thanks, Ken! Hope to talk to you soon. Click here for photos → http://www.myatrium.com/queens-photos/

Warm regards,

Marianne Hamilton
