Car enthusiasts – start your engines! Mesquite Motor Mania 2020 will be held Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, January 17-19.  This annual car extravaganza and competition is expected to draw over 900 vehicles and 1000’s of spectators to one of the year’s most highly anticipated Classic Car Show Events.

 

The Mesquite Motor Mania is open to all years, makes and models of classic vehicles and special interest vehicles such as vintage, street rods and hot rods.  In addition to the over 260 Top Vehicle trophies & awards, this year’s event will distribute $15,000.00 in cash drawings & prizes for car show participants.  There will be Ladies’ Choice, Kid’s Favorite, Best Use of Chrome and Hottest Flames just to name a few of the categories.

 

An abundance of festivities and contests, all free to the public, are planned at various locations throughout the weekend. Participating vehicles will be parked at sponsor hotels – The CasaBlanca, The Virgin River, The Oasis and the Eureka. Spectators are even encouraged to vote for their favorites.   The Vendors and the Car & Parts Corral will be open at designated locations from 9 am-6 pm both Friday and Saturday.

1st Responders Car Show

Project Lifesaver was established in April 1999 as an initiative of the Search and Rescue Teams of the Chesapeake VA Sheriff’s Office. Brought to the St. George area by the St. George Police Dept. in 2014 and quickly adopted by other departments in Washington County. Project Lifesaver has been found to be an effective tool that saves lives and reduces the potential of serious injury.

Project Lifesaver’s mission is to use state of the art technology in assisting those who care for victims of Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome and other cognitive conditions that cause wandering. The Project Lifesaver program places personalized radio transmitters or GPS locaters on identified persons. Transmitters assist local Police Departments provide a rapid response to help find those who wander. In Washington County, local departments get calls as much as 2 to 4 times a week for someone that has wandered off.
