Finally Some Good Old Desert Car Show Weather

Anyone out there remember what movie this line came from, “Chances are if we don’t already know about it we aren’t too interested in finding out about it.” Well, that’s kind of how I feel when I watch the news anymore. Other than a few special interest stories that are uplifting most of the news is a bunch of scary stuff. On the upside of that little blip is the fact that this time of year more than about any other there is more to do than you can shake a stick at in the Car Show/Collector Car world. By the way, our good “Car Gal” friend, Cheryl Rogers-Barnett, will be presenting some stories about her life and showing a video on her father, “Roy Roger: In His Own Words” this Saturday at the St. George Art Museum. Peril

So many of our friends are on road trips right now or about to leave on a road trip….I’m jealous. For one who loves being at home so much, I can’t believe I could road trip for months at a time (and have). Not his summer though for us. Our next road trip, which is already planned, will be cruising to Lake Havasu City, AZ for the Annual “Run to the Sun” Car Show, October 21st thru the 25th, & about 6 days of continual fun car stuff to do from the cruise down there, to touring the build shops, to the Show & Shines, to the Cruise-Ins, to the Poker Run, to the free dinners, to the Cha-Bones experience (my favorite), to the actual On-the Grass Car Show, and to the cruise back home it is one of the coolest car things we have ever been to…..Usually about 16-20 Southern Utah locals attend which makes it all the better.

Just a little cruise op coming up on Tuesday as the Mesquite Classic Car Owners meet at Play Offs in Mesquite at 5 PM for their Monthly Show & Shine……I think we will head down and join them since they make a great effort to come up this way to join in our activities….In fact, the last three car things in this are were well attended by Mesquite, NV, Bunkerville, NV, Scenic Springs, AZ, Littlefield, AZ, Beaver Dam, AZ, & Littlefield, AZ. We, Southern Utahans have cruised down their way for car things about 6 times this year already and wanting to do it more often….Come on and join in whether you want to drive your Classics or just passenger vehicles. The group from here loves to hit Los Lupes, but I think we will try the world famous BBQ ribs at Play Offs this time.

Another Month Chalked Up

If you have to get it done in May, as I stated before, you are (we are) running out of time. Be sure to check the “Memory Lane” section of DesertCruzin and look for the last few local Car Show doomiewaffles.

BTW, we sure hope the people in the Plane Crash in Hurricane are OK…we passed the fresh crash about the time the ambulance left the scene this morning on our “5th Saturday Cruise” out to Sliver Reef & back home through Sand Hollow. About 40 off us were able to go on cruise this morning.

This ony takes a minute to watch from a Santa Rosa, CA TV station   →   http://wn.ktvu.com/Clip/11452947/santa-rosa-warning-about-new-scam-while-pumping-gas#.VVdlz0c_Uhl.facebook

Finally Some Rain-Free Weather Ahead for Car Shows

Over the last several days there have been many auto related events around the entire region and much beyond…..Rainy weather was the dictator at most all of them (be sure to check the Memory Lane section for photos), but it looks like this coming week will be a great one for any upcoming Collector Car events. The week ahead is shaping up something like this:

MAY

Don’t Linger, Sleep in, or Slumber tomorrow morning….Get Up, Get Movin’, and Get Feelin’ Great! There’s nothing worth watching on TV for sure (especially the news….It’s basically the same as last week).

KaBOOM! ShaZAAM! KaPOW! Hangout POPS!

For a get together of Collector Car lovers with no organization, no club, no leader, no coordinator, and no knowledge of who, or whom, may or may not show up, Hot Rod Hangout is awesome & amazing. This morning was no exception to that rule (or lack thereof). 61 showed up with smiles, stories, and kudos. The gift of gab was sure present today. There were car lovers all over the place bringing in tons of spectators and participants showing off there trucks, cars, and hot rods. Lots of thanks to the group coming up from mesquite Classic Car Owners Association and to all.

Car Show Weather Ahead???????

For those of you, like myself, who love getting up early in the morning and checking out the beautiful sunrises in this area you (we) have been really lucky the last few days. Nearly every morning looking to the East over Zion Park area is amazing though. While checking out all the great, brilliant colors it is difficult not to daydream about having a car collection like Don’s, Dennis’s, or Stan’s and trying out some of the sky’s colors on all of those cars….(in my warehouse that is!) This morning one of the colors reminded me of Steve & Renie Friend’s Cobra they have for sale and just had to find a photo of it in my folder and put it up on the slideshow on this page….be sure to check it out.

It looks like we are headed for a stretch of “Car Show Weather” now for a bit…….I’m sure you are all ready for it……..Here you go!

  • Hot Rod Hangout, Wednesday at 9:00 or so, at Ricardo’s at 1110 South Bluff St. in St. George is the most widely regularly attended Collector Car event each month in the region with an average monthly attendance of about 160 per month…not bad for this area – Click on this link to view the flyer   →   Hangout Winter 930

Warbirds Car Show at New St. George Airport

You may now view some great photos of the Wings & Wheels Car Show at the Warbirds on this site under “Memory Lane”

  • Saturday – Car Show at the St. George Airport (New one) as a continuation of Armed Forced Celebration from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This car show was really nice last year as fellow car enthusiast Ray Stiens organized it. Due to some health issues Ray has not been able to do it this year, but we totally expect it will be as great as ever and hope to see Ray & Anita out there enjoying the day.

DRAGS CANCELLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ken can you spread the word that the drag races this weekend are cancelled

There has been an issue with the Lions Club and the City something to due with the fact that they were not prepared to assume liability for the event. Anyway politics.

But could you send out a quick email so people do not waist time.

We will make sure the next scheduled event does happen. So spread that word as well.

Thanks for your help
