Susan Garner said it best, “A big thanks to everyone who donated toys and/or money at last weekend’s Toys For Tots toy drive held November 29 @ the IceBerg Drive Inn. We appreciate everyone’s help with our many charitable events.  Didn’t get a chance to donate? Don’t worry, there is another Toys For Tots toy drive being held this coming Saturday, December 6, @ Ricardo’s Restaurant, from 2-4PM.  I know that several car folks are supporting BOTH toy drives, this includes myself and my husband. Remember these events are for the kids!!!”

Nice Turnout & Weather at Freddy’s

Yesterday afternoon about 27 cars showed up at “Trippin’ at Freddy’s” to an amazing sunny, warm welcome. Even though there was quite a group hitting the great food the parking lot remained pretty full of people looking and chatting. We sure hope that was not the end of the great days until spring springs. After running out this morning to grab our paper I am sure happy this windy, cold stuff was no the day yesterday.

We will all miss our friend from Canada, Keith Downie, who will be headed out of town. It is great seeing him, and his wife Jenny, when they are around. We just had an opportunity to chat with her yesterday and appreciated her company. I sure hope she Emails me some of the photos she took last night since most of us were so busy lying to each other we didn’t get any car shots.

We saw some brand new attendees there….’63 Buick Skylark Convertible,  ’76 Chevy Laguna, ’37 Chevy Gasser, ’70 Chevelle SS, and Mike’s cool Mercedes Convertible. We all hope to see them out more often, and I know some of them have multiple collectible autos. Some of our friends who we haven’t seen out for a bit showed up, and we hope to see them more often now. Virgil finally got his Firebird on the road……Condenser….Wow! After all that work.

THANKSGIVING is upon us in just a few days, but we will forge ahead with out Hangout on Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM as usual…..Hangout Fall Winter 2014-15

Let’s all get out and take a little break from the hustle & bustle on Saturday at Paradise Bakery for a little breakfast Cruise-In…..Show up any time after 9 AM……I think the flyer lists 9:30, but they serve breakfast until 10:00, so it may behoove a couple to arrive a titch early…….Eating NOT Meeting 11-29-14

Later in the day on Saturday is the Desert Rodders version of Toys for Tots at Iceberg…….(Please Email me a flyer)

Continually Amazed at Hangout Turnout at Ricardo’s

Never ceases to amaze those in attendance at the number coming our on Wednesdays for Hangout at Ricardo’s…this morning an even 40 (actually that’s the only way you can get 40)….We saw 4 new cars out there this morning including a Caddie formally owned by Don Garlits bought right out of his museum in Olcala, FL…what a cool ride that is. A great ’55 Chevy Pick Up we haven’t seen at Hangout before….Oh, and Lucky showed up for the first time since his hospitalization a couple of months ago. Welcome Back!!!!!!!!

Four local clubs/groups were represented there this morning, and just think what we could all accomplish if personalities always jelled. All in all, what a terrific bunch of car enthusiasts we are fortunate enough to be associated with in this desert region.

There was a great article yesterday on the St. George news   →    http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/2014/11/18/hrc-kony-coins-for-kids-usmc-toys-for-tots-are-in-full-swing-join-the-effort/#.VG0I6PnF-F8

Be sure to note the Car Guys Care Toys for Tots at Ricardo’s on December 6tth was incorrectly posted on their site as being on December 13th.

Another Couple of Good Weeks Ahead

This time of year seems to always get racked up with all kinds of things going on and throwing in family, friends, holidays, and more and more stuff every year, but there is always time to do what we want – We frequently hear, “I don’t have time.” This usually translates to, “I don’t really want to make it a priority.” I have said for years, “We are running out of time.” That doesn’t mean I think we are all going to die next month, but over the last couple of years we have seen so many of our friends have health issues that forever changed their lives from strokes, heart attacks, knee & hip replacements, cancer, dialysis, neuropathy, and a never ending list……Get out there and enjoy life…..Take my word for it your kids and grand-kids will all survive without an inheritance. Those who deserve it don’t need it and those who need it don’t deserve it…True about 99% of the time.

Be sure to check out our new “Reviews” section on the Menu Bar – Take it from a “Professional Eater”    →   Interesting note: Recent Email from Hilton Honors offering discounted rates for rooms in Minneapolis ——- DUH!

For the rest of this month, things will be no different….BUSY!

Most Amazing Show & Shine in SoUtah at Drags

Saturday morning the classics and Rods began lining up at the Ridgetop Raceway for the most amazing and largest Show & Shine any of us can ever remember in Southern Utah…..SO large it was all anyone could do to keep track off who or what was coming and going……By most accounts and counts there were a minimum of 77 vehicles out there not counting all the jeeps behind the bleachers.

There were several racers who were not really big on including a Show & Shine with the Drags, but we all think they must have been pleasantly surprised at the amount of cars, trucks, and people generated by the the long, long, long line of rods and customs. Hopefully this is a precursor to the December 6th Car Guys Care Toys for Tots at Ricardo’s 2 PM – 4 PM.

None of us could remember any auto related event at Ridgetop so well attended and participants galore…..Best wishes for the matches on Sunday for the Lion’s Club and Blackrock Motorsports.

Don’t hold the old iPhone responsible for the amaturish photos, but this should give you just a tad of the feeling there…..↓

And, be sure to visit the “Memory Lane” section and on “Photos Past Shows” for more photos!
