Cars & Coffee “On Tap” For Next Car Show

Cars & Coffee at Perks Espresso & More is always a great turnout (other than on a rainy day). Seldom is there not several new friends to make and new cars to oggle.

Is the English language strange or what? This has nothing to do with cars or events, but our amazing language never ceases to “amaze.” It just plain sounds strange to say, “Seldom is there not…..” A little Googling makes it very difficult to make a real solid decision on its correctness vs., “Seldom are there not…..” Interpret it as you wish.

Back to car stuff – Check this flyer for a little information on the Car Guys Care organized Car Show, Cruise-In, Show & Shine

Of course, this is held the first Saturday of each month. The parking lot has been adequate other than twice when a few have had to park along Westridge Drive or take a chance of a little ‘Bumpin’ and Rubbin” in the lot.

Car Shows Benefit

The CAR GUYS CARE fundraiser for the fire victims ended last night with a lot of passersby checking out the cars. We hope they found it in their hearts to donate. Shane, Car Guys Care coordinator, will let us know soon how much the three events raised over the past five days. Enjoy some fo the photos from Freddy’s Steakburger Saturday evening   ↓

Unexpected Show of Compassion

Check this out. I heard some people talking about the American Red Cross and that only 10 cents on each donated dollar goes to the aid recipients……..Check this http://money.cnn.com/2013/05/24/pf/donations-charities/ Every watchdog group I looked up says 91 cents or close makes it. Lil Barron, local Red Cross Director, told Shane unequivocally more than the 100% collected stays right here in a disaster fund which will go to the families in Southern Utah.

This morning at Hot Rod Hangout at Ricardo’s on South Bluff St. about 47 Car Lovers showed up to support the Car Guys Care Fundraiser for the unfortunate folks who lost their mobile homes last Saturday due to a fire in St. George. The donation can is sealed so it will be several days before we get a tally on the total there. REMEMBER TWO MORE EVENTS THIS WEEK!!!!!

KUDOS:

  • Shane
  • Car Guys Care
  • Findlay Automotive for their music today
  • Sunset Automotive – Keith & Jeanette DeWitt (large cash donation)
  • Car Club Members who showed up from the Southern Utah Mustang Owners Association, Rods & Rebels Hot Rod Club, Desert Rodders of Southern Utah Car Club, and a couple of independents

Hangout, Dixie Sunset, Freddy’s This Week’s Car Shows

Wow! We are in for another great weekend around here, and I hear rumors there will be Car Guys Care/Red Cross Fundraisers at all three events for the four families who lost their homes in the fire last Saturday in St. George. http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/DSCN2988.jpg or try this one http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/2014/07/20/ams-donations-needed-4-families-lose-homes-to-fire/#.U86RcfldWSr

I hope Shane can pull it off for Car Guys Care.

Unexpected Car Show Thanks

A couple of days ago my wife handed me a letter which is a rarity – not her handing me a letter but me getting any mail to begin with. I was amazed and impressed I actually received a “Thank You” note from the Red Rock Roadrunners Car Club for participating in their Run to the Red Rocks Car Show in Kanab last month…..Holy Moly!!!!! That was a first for me. I know I heard from a couple others who also received the note. I want to return the thanks for the thanks. See you next year!

Their show this year was their 13th Annual Car Show. From a participants view point it was a smooth operation. I admire and thank everyone who plans car shows. It is no easy task and many times a thankless job….my hats off to you all.

By the way, be sure to check out Iceberg in St. George  →   Iceberg 7-19-14

Car Show Central – Southern Utah

As usual this time of year the calendar is full off all kinds of Collector Car events in Southern Utah, Northern Arizona, and Southern Nevada. Just check out the “Upcoming Car Shows” section on the top Menu Bar and jsut click on it….You will be able to view an updated Car Show Events List and Flyers of upcoming car shows……A new addition just today is the 3rd Annual Flying Monkey Car Show in Springdale coming up on August 9th in the afternoon so it will not interfere with the Show & Shine at Tuacahn that Saturday morning.

Cedar and Beaver this Saturday

There was a good time had by all who went on the Two Lane Tour to Bryce Canyon this past Wednesday. The ride up was fantabulousterest (new word to only be used in conjunction with awesome car stuff) starting out with fun chat, cruise to Oscar’s Restaurant on Springdale for breakfast, a cruise through Zion with lots of sheep sightings, a pit stop at the Thunderbird Restaurant at Carmel Junction and chat with Ed, another stop for German Bakery goods at Bakerei Foercher in Orderville (is everything based on food?), and then a tour of the Fish Hatchery south of Hatch, Utah.

???????????????????????????????

Fellow car enthusiast Gordon Nelson the hatchery manager took some of his valuable time to take us around and show us the amazing process of keeping our lakes, streams, and ponds stocked with healthy fish. Gordon and his wife have a couple of nice GTO’s – ’66 & ’67. I will post a couple of photos.

We arrived at Ruby’s Inn Best Western® and got all checked in and, yes, had a little snack before going to Ebeneezer’s Barn & Grill for the Bar G Wranglers Show and one of the best dinners around. Our fellow hot rodder, Cheryl Barnett was recognized for her amazing authorships of several books. He Parents, Roy Rogers & Dale Evans were also memorialized in several numbers played by the Wranglers. Of course, Roy was the Sons of the Pioneers in my mind.
