Cars and Coffee Perks St. George

This Saturday in St. George is the monthly Cars and Coffee at Perks. It isn’t really a car show but it will certainly do to bring out some amazing, unexpected machines. I have never heard anyone say they didn’t enjoy bringing their cars there or anyone say they didn’t think it was worth stopping in to check out some of the rides.

10 AM until about Noon. Don’t need to arrive on time or leave on time. Perks has a pretty good little breakfast menu, great seating for about 35, and really great coffee and such.

This event is just an easy come, easy go car and truck cruise-in for all clubs, groups, likes, and dislikes.

CU’ll there. Music provided by: Findlay Auto Group of Southern Utah.

Hangout & Cars & Coffee

Wednesday is Hangout day in St. George, and all Southern Utah, Southern Nevada, and Northern Arizona Collector Car enthusiasts are within close proximity to cruise on in and enjoy some great company at Jazzy’s Rock N Roll Grill located at 285 North Bluff St. In beautiful St. George.

Hangout

Then on Saturday there is the Regular as Clock Work Cars and Coffee at Perk’s on Sunset Blvd also in St. George. This Saturday the Findlay Auto Southern Utah and Ken, their trusty DJ, will be at the helm to provide that great 50’s and 60’s Rock & Roll.

A Few New Things

There aren’t many places any better for a true Collector Car buff than the Southern Utah region, and the most event happy place St. George, but every once in a while it really is nice to take part in events in other areas and get a taste of what is trending at the present. I will tell you from my perspective right now Rat Rods, massively flashy stuff, and American Metal and Chrome are sure popular.

I have photos of the Grand Nationals up from Pomona under “Gallery” and then “Car and Truck Shows”

I have Cars and Coffee Irvine up under “Gallery” and then “Cars and Coffee Irvine”

Trippin’ at Freddy’s – Saturday

Here we go again! Gotta Love it Baby!

The 4th Saturday of the month is close again. The Day Tripper’s monthly Cruise-In/Show & Shine is up and running and good weather forecasted for the afternoon in St. George is lookin’ HOT …… Well, warmer anyway. Right now the Weather Channel is predicting 62 for late afternoon – come on….you know they wouldn’t lie even though they get their information from the government. We will have the times up tomorrow and hope to see you all out there. This time of year in Southern Utah you never know how the days are going to be so don’t let this great, sunny day slip by with your car caught in the garage. Freddy’s 1-25-14 Below are just a few photos from last month to check out.

The people out her were just having fun and the weather should be soooooo much warmer on Saturday than it was last month….Mark & Marlene agreed to keep it at the same time this month, so people can just come and go as they please….doesn’t get much better than that.

ALSO – The Day Trippers’ Cruise to Milgro is tomorrow morning –

January 24th – Friday – This is a message from Marc Remington, President of The Day Trippers, “Hi All, January’s drive will be on Friday the 24th to Newcastle and  see the Milgro Nursery. This time instead of Poinsettias, the Tulips will be out in bloom. Here is a chance to be in an indoor plant nursery with about 900,000 sq.ft. of plant space all heated by thermal underground water. The tour will start at 1 pm and lasts about 1 hr. and depending how many pics you want to take. It will take about 75-90 min to get there from St. George heading towards Enterprise and beyond.  The tour manager is a car guy and he remembered us from the previous trip we took a couple of years ago. He looks forward to our arrival with more cars. All are welcome. Meet up at Smith’s Grocery  on Bluff towards to center exit (close to fuel station) Depart at 11:30 am  head out on Bluff St. and 18 to Enterprise. The only place to eat would be in Enterprise afterwards, so you might want to grab lunch beforehand or a snack to hold you over. All are welcome.”

January Coming to an End Fast

It never ceases to amaze me how fast time flies. Just a week ago I was trying to keep all of this past weekend’s activities straight in my mind and on paper. Before I knew it the weekend was gone and I was moving on to what was left of this month….not only in Southern Utah and the Southwest Desert Region but about everywhere.

The rest of this month does have plenty to offer. Be sure to check the Event Updates section on the top Menu Bar for all that is happening around this area. I am also working very hard to have the site encompass more and more of the entire Southwest from East Texas to Kansas and all points West. Please let me know if any of you are privy to any collector car events happening anywhere and I will get them up in the appropriate area. This past week I was lucky to attend the following:
BTW, there are a couple of new things on this site today……

  • Tuacahn Car Show on May 10th has its own link on the top Menu Bar
  • Photos up in the Gallery section under Car & Truck Shows of Mesquite Motor Mania
  • New photos are up of Dave Betteridge’s collection under the  Memory Lane section and Private Collections

The Heck of it is I missed out on the Mesquite Motor Mania down in Mesquite, Nevada along with missing out on the Laughlin, Nevada Car Show at the River’s Edge. Can’t do it all. This weekend off the Pomona, CA and the Grand National Roadster Show……tough life!!!!!!!

Scottsdale Unreal

Everyone knows Scottsdale at this time a year is “Auction Central” for the collector car industry. It is unbelievable around here with the quality of cars, the quantity of cars, and the unbelievably low prices some of the treasures are bringing. When I get back in town we will have an update with photos.

Anyone who has ever been in to first-generation Thunderbirds has to recognize the name Amos Minter out of Texas. He is an amazing rebuilder and restorer of some of the finest T-Bird’s ever put together. He has two cars at Barrett-Jackson right now. Here is a photo of one of the undercarriages.   Now this is brand new information I just received about ten minutes ago that these two cars in the below photos of Amos Minter’s ’57’s brought a total 434k last night. These were two of the nicest cars I have ever seen….that’s why I had these photos up.

What Did the Fox Say????

#21 for me…..I like them but I am doing the feral cat program up here and cats and fox don’t mix well. I relocated this little fellow up to Snow Canyon which is just up north a bit of St. George off of Hwy. 18 on the way to Diamond Valley….This has nothing to do with collecting cars, but it is amazing how many of these little guys we have up near the “D”

This just in from Susan Garner regarding the Mesquite Show Saturday:

New “Memory Lane” Section

I have always thought about how lucky we are here in Southern Utah, and surrounding region, to have so many fellow collector car enthusiasts who have multiple cars in their collections. Not only am I impressed with the cars, but I am always pleasantly appreciative of those who are so willing to share their enjoyment with us. Therefor, I finally decided to devote an entire Page/Link to allow us all to see their collections. Please excuse my inability to do things on the web quickly, but please know I do appreciate each and everyone of you for visiting this site and taking the time to check things out beyond just the latest posting and your patience with me. If I got paid 35 ¢ per hour to keep this page up I would have a collection myself……darn I’m slow.

For the Memory Lane section just go to the top Menu Bar and let your cursor hover over the “Memory Lane”, and when the drop down menu appears you will see the choices you have to visit the individual collections. It is amazing how many of our fellow hobbyists have more than just a couple of cars. A real surprise to me just happened at the Cruise-In at Sunset Corner in St. George, UT this past Friday afternoon/evening when Vince & Svetlana were telling me they have 10 classics at their house……Amazing! I had no idea.

For the Page kick-off I have chosen three special collections. Thanks to the generous owners for allowing me to photograph their cars, quiz them about their collections, and share them with all of us. Probably most of you have visited their garages, but car lovers seem to never get enough.

I have already had the pleasure of visiting Don & JoAnn Ipson’s collection and post some information and photos. I have already contacted Denny & Jackie Rutkowski and Roy and Kathy Lineberry about doing some stories and pictures of their collections as soon as time can be arranged – I am hoping to hook up with them this week. Let me know if you know of others with large, or small, collections (I figure anything three collector cars or more to be a collection) who may allow me to check them out and do a short story.

Thanks, Ken (ken@infowest.com)
